John Lennon: All I Want Is The Truth

For my book, I read John Lennon: All I Want Is The Truth, written by Elizabeth Partridge

1. I recommend you read this book for these two reasons. First of all, John Lennon is a hero to many, and if you enjoy music in any aspect, it's interesting to see where a lot of music came from; John Lennon's inspiration, and how he inspired music of the future. Secondly, it's extremely interesting to look into John Lennon's emotions, and how he felt when growing up, how he became interested in drug use, and how he changed over the years.
2. I recommend you don't read this book for these two reasons. First of all, at some parts the book can almost be disturbing. It includes descriptions of tragedy in John's life, and goes into how he hallucinated when he was a young boy, along with describing his drug use, and interest in sex. So if you find any of these disturbing, this book may not be for you. Also, as may be expected, there is a sad ending, and not all of us are made for sad endings.
4. The opening or closing shot of a movie based on this book would look like this for these reasons: I think an interesting opening shot for a movie based on this book would be various pictures of John Lennon and The Beatles throughout Lennon's lifetime, and playing the song A Day In The Life, written by the Beatles, because i believe it shows various styles of Beatles music and seems to be about, as the name suggests, a day in the life of The Beatles, or John Lennon. I think it would also be interesting to use a similar shot for the closing of the movie, except possibly with a different song, such as While My Guitar Gently Weeps or Because, to show the sadness in the ending of John's life.
5. In a movie based on this book, I would choose this piece(s) of music played this way for a particularly significant moment (explain) and why: In a movie based on this book, I would choose Revolution Number 9 written by The Beatles for various parts of the film, since it is a long piece. This song could be used when describing John's strange drawings or hallucinations as a child, or simply during The Beatles' recording of Revolution Number 9, which was during a hectic time with the band, since they were drifting apart. I think that also, not only Beatles' music is necessary in a film describing John Lennon's life. Since a lot of Lennon's inspiration came from various artists such as Elvis Presley, their music could be used as well. I think also, when John first meets Yoko, a song such as Something In the Way She Moves, or I'll Get You.

I really like the fact that you decided to do more than two questions, just like me. I hope you got in to blogger easily with my help, and I must say that, like John Lennon, my freako main character also had some wierd interests in sex that made the book kinda creepy.

If you were doing the opening scene in the movie do you think the pictures you would show focus on John Lennon alone or with the beatles?

I really like your idea of the opening and closing shot of a movie based on this book. If you had a chance to make this book into a movie, would you do that?

Lauren - I think that the focus should mainly be on him, but also of him with the other Beatles since the Beatles such a large part of his life.
Joanne - I think that this book would make a great movie, although I'm sure there have been movies based on John Lennon's life in the past. However, each book/film is different, and I'm sure that this book has even more it can put in to a film.
